Thaimai Anbu Karangal (TAK) is an ISO 9001:2015 certified Organization dedicated and passionate voluntary organization headquartered in Salem District, Tamil Nadu. Founded in 2007, TAK positively impacts the lives of grassroots communities living in rural and urban areas for Intellectual Disability and other associate condition people.

In the past years, TAK has been doing work like free Special Education of Intellectual People for Differently Abled., also running An Adult Home and Vocational Training centre for Intellectual People.Totally 345 beneficiaries is benefited.

Our Trust provide local level Community Based Rehabilitation services to 128 Disability persons.Conducted a Parent’s Vocational Training programmes180 targeted people benefited in this particular programme. Conducting Community Needed Assessment camps for Differently Abled and vulnerable people at various Districts with support of Vazhnthu Kattuvom Project, Pudhu Vazhvu project and VazhiKattum Thittam, TNSRLM. Around 10,000+ people were benefited.

Around 450 CDF” s and SGF people were Covered State Level training programmes from welfare scheme of differently Abled. TAK also involved in education for school age children, Drop out and Never enrolled children through government schemes with the adequate facilities, supports in all aspects. TAK involve child marriage awareness, prevention of child marriage, helping disabled people, teaching literacy to the uneducated for the past 15 years.

TAK running KGBV – Kasthurba Gandhi Bhaliga Vidhyalaya Residential school for drop out and never enrolled students at Educationally Backward Blocks, in various district.

TAK strongly believes in the power of joint action and collaboration with government, agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. With an unwavering commitment and vision for an inclusive and sustainable futurefor, TAK will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and progress for marginalised communities in Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Karur. Totally 3110 people benefited in the above programs.

Mr. M. Elangeswaran is the Managing Trustee of Thaimai Anbu Karangal. Coming from a socio-economically disadvantaged background, he has risen through dedication, perseverance, and sincere effort to establish himself as a committed social leader.​

He has been recognized with multiple national awards for his outstanding contributions and dedicated services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In recognition of his social service, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) by AUGP, USA.​

Mr. Elangeswaran has over 18 years of professional experience in the field of disability rehabilitation, including special education, planning and conducting needs assessment camps, and delivering foundational training programs for CDF, SGF, and other stakeholder groups.​

He has also been appointed as a CGRF Member of TANGEDCO, Salem District, in an honorary capacity. Further strengthening his leadership and management expertise, he successfully completed a 15-month training and graduation program in the Niranthara Sahayak Management Change Program conducted by Dhwani Foundation, Bengaluru.

Selvi. K. Malathi possesses a strong educational background and has been actively involved in the care, education, and rehabilitation of children with special needs since 2005. With nearly two decades of hands-on experience, she has developed expertise in managing special education programs and implementing effective rehabilitation interventions. She currently serves as Trustee-cum-Principal of Thaimai Anbu Karangal, where she plays a pivotal role in guiding academic, vocational, and rehabilitation initiatives.

Deeply committed to the empowerment of persons with disabilities, she has dedicated her life to advancing rehabilitation and livelihood development activities for special children. In addition to her leadership responsibilities, she is a compassionate counsellor and an accomplished vocational trainer, contributing significantly to the holistic development and self-reliance of the beneficiaries.

Smt. M. Devaki, wife of Mr. M. Manoharan, is a resident of Salem and serves as a Trustee of Thaimai Anbu Karangal. She holds a D.T.Ed. qualification and brings over 30 years of rich experience in the teaching profession. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to education and child development, with a special focus on the growth, empowerment, and inclusion of children with special needs. Her extensive experience in pedagogy, combined with her compassionate approach, enables her to contribute effectively to the planning and implementation of educational and developmental initiatives of the organization. Driven by a strong sense of social responsibility, Smt. Devaki continues to dedicate her knowledge, skills, and time to advancing opportunities for special children and supporting their holistic development.

Smt. S. Sheela Devi, wife of Late Mr. P. Sasivarnan, is a resident of Salem and serves as a Trustee of Thaimai Anbu Karangal. She is an accomplished vocational trainer with expertise in a wide range of skill-based activities, contributing significantly to the vocational empowerment of persons with disabilities. In addition, she is a dedicated and compassionate family counsellor, providing guidance and emotional support to the parents of children with special needs. Through her professional skills and empathetic approach, she plays an important role in strengthening families and enhancing rehabilitation outcomes. As a Trustee, Smt. Sheela Devi remains actively involved in the organization’s initiatives, committed to promoting self-reliance, inclusion, and holistic development of special children and their families.
